report for the Employee Buyout Committee of this 400 plus facility.
Directed a complete review of the company's performance and future

Republic Engineered
Steels (1989): performed the due diligence
on the Business Plan for Bank of Boston in connection with term

Sharon Steel Corporation
(1989-1990): prepared reports for the
Trustee appointed under U.S. bankruptcy court proceedings. Directed
a major report identifying the firm's problems which was presented
to the Trustee, management, labor and the creditors.
Assessing the Feasibility
of an Independent National Forge-Erie (1989):
retained by the United Steelworkers and the Employee Buyout Committee
to perform a full-scale feasibility report for an employee buyout.
Subsequently retained by Lazard Freres & Company to advise them
during negotiations with the seller and lending institutions.
Pittsburgh Forgings
Company (1987-88): retained by the
United Steelworkers and the Employee Buyout Committee to conduct
the feasibility analysis, serve as an investment advisor and secure
financing in the employee purchase from Ampco-Pittsburgh.
Business Plan for
McLouth Steel Products (1986-87): worked
with management and the trade creditors on behalf of the United
Steelworkers to develop a business strategy leading to the employee
buyout of McLouth. Worked with the investment banking firm of Shearson,
Lehman Brothers in the restructuring process and monitoring the
company's problems and prospects for the United Steelworkers.
Feasibility Report
on Gulf States Steel (1985): a complete
evaluation of LTV Steel Gadsden sheet/plate facility for the United
Steelworkers to determine if the employees should participate in
a buyout.
Financial Analysis
of Eastern Airlines (1983 -1984): an
extensive joint review of Eastern's problems and prospects, in cooperation
with the New York investment firm, Lazard Freres & Company.
The study served as the basis for a historic labor-management agreement
which helped save the company from bankruptcy, initiated labor participation
in decision-making, improved productivity and strengthened management.
Financial Review of
Avtex Fibers (1985-1986): a study of
the largest rayon producer in the United States for the Amalgamated
Clothing and Textile Workers Union, whose members were facing concessionary
demands.
Financial Review of
Greif Companies (1986): an in-depth
analysis of the problems and prospects of the second largest manufacturer
of men's suits for the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers
Union.
Feasibility Study
of White Pine Copper Company (1984-1985):
a report on the past performance and future prospects of the largest
underground copper mine in the United States on behalf of the USWA.
Advised the employees on participating in a worker buyout and assisted
in the negotiations for the successful purchase of the facility,
which is located in Michigan.
